“The Always Remembered Flag”
The "Always Remembered" flag demonstrates our appreciation to everyone who has, is, or will serve in our military and to everyone who has supported them. Especially the sacrifices of the families & friends left behind. "Never Forgotten," means we will not forget their service to our country, whether by the supreme sacrifice, or the sacrifice of time and duty.
With that in mind I came up with not only a design that represents the service of many but also tells a kind story about their service to country. As the United States Flag is the greatest symbol of the United States, this flag would reflect the complete meaning of service and acknowledge the many sacrifices that people have made for this great country in whatever capacity.
The inception of the “Always Remembered Flag” came about while looking at other flags & what they meant. I thought why shouldn’t there be a flag that recognizes all that have served, are serving, or will serve? As the United States Flag is the greatest symbol of the United States, this design represents the service of the many telling a story about their service.
The “Silhouettes”, that I chose are the Minuteman and the Soldier of today. As you know from our history, the Minuteman was the first to respond in defense of this country. The Soldier silhouette of today was chosen because it represents any Soldier serving today or in the future.
The words “Service To Country”, means anyone that has served, serves today or at any time.
The words “All Have Given Some”, means everyone that serves has given something. It could be the time served or any reason for serving.
The words “Some Have Given All”, stands for the ones that have given the supreme sacrifice. It could also mean someone that has devoted a major part of their life to the service.
The “Stars”, are aligned so that the top row has the thirteen stars which denotes the thirteen original colonies with the rest of the stars representing the different states to follow.
The words “Always Remembered”, means that we should always remember all that have served, regardless of when, where or how they served.
The words “Never Forgotten”, means exactly what it says. Never forget the sacrifices, whether it is the complete sacrifice or if it’s just the sacrifice of time and duty.
The initial thought about the flag was primarily about the military service to our country, when in actuality it also reminds us of the great sacrifices of the families left behind or someone special who has served or are serving today. With that in mind, I came up with not only a design that represents the service of many but also tells a story about the service to our country.
Remembering someone and keeping them in our thoughts is something that can’t be taken away and can touch any or all of us, regardless for whatever reason or circumstance.
